Series Reading Order

I am a sucker for a series. I love getting to know characters and taking a journey with them over time. I don't like to start a series in the middle. Even if someone gives me a book as a gift, I'll usually go back and find the ones that came before it and read them first. I hate feeling like I've missed something.
